Best AI Presentation Makers: Gamma vs Beautiful.ai vs Plus AI vs Canva
By Andrew · October 16, 2026
Draft the story in Gamma if you want a finished-looking deck in a browser. Stay inside PowerPoint or Google Slides with Plus AI if that is where the file has to live. Use Beautiful.ai when every slide must obey a layout system. Use Canva when the deck is one asset in a pile of social graphics.
Prices are US list prices last verified October 16, 2026. We did not score slide taste. The fit table records where each product puts the file and what the published plan includes.
Which presentation tool to open
| Constraint | Tool | Entry price |
|---|---|---|
| “Make a deck from this outline” and the format can be a link | Gamma | Free credits that do not refresh; Plus is $9/seat/month |
| The file must be a real .pptx or Google Slides file | Plus AI | 7-day trial, then Basic $10/user/month billed annually ($15 monthly) |
| You present often and want layouts that cannot drift | Beautiful.ai | Pro $14.50/month billed annually, or $45 month-to-month. 14-day trial |
| You already design in Canva, and slides are occasional | Canva | Free; Pro is $18/month or $180/year |
| The deck is a live room with guests and analytics | Pitch | Free for up to 5 members; Plus $10/seat/month yearly |
| You need a diagram, not a 12-slide story | Napkin AI | Free 500 credits/week; Plus $9/person/month |
Figure (format diagram, not a product screenshot). Alt: Three output types. Gamma and Pitch export or present from their own canvas. Plus AI writes native Google Slides and PowerPoint. Canva and Beautiful.ai keep you in a designed template system. Napkin stops at the visual. Pick the output your client will actually open.

Gamma
Gamma generates decks, documents, and one-page sites from a prompt. It is the fastest way to get something you can send as a link.
| Plan | Price | Monthly credits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | A balance that does not refresh. You can hold up to 2,000, including credits from referrals |
| Plus | $9/seat/month ($108/year) | 1,000 |
| Pro | $18/seat/month ($216/year) | 4,000. Advanced models and API access |
| Ultra | $90/seat/month, monthly billing only | 20,000. All image models |
| Business / Enterprise | Contact Gamma | Shared workspace credits |
Gamma’s own approximate costs: 1–3 credits to generate a card, and images from a handful of credits (standard) to 30–125 (ultra models). A 10-card deck is a small bite of a Plus plan’s 1,000 credits unless you regenerate images on premium models. Free is enough to learn and not enough to produce decks every week, because the balance does not refill on its own.
Choose Gamma for internal updates, workshop drafts, and anything that can stay a Gamma link. Do not choose Gamma as the only tool if your company mandates a PowerPoint master. Export exists on paid workflows; native editing still favors Plus AI.
Beautiful.ai
Beautiful.ai is a slide system first. Smart Slides keep alignment when you add a bullet. That is the product. AI generation is included, not the only reason to pay.
| Plan | Price | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Pro, annual | $14.50/month billed annually | One person |
| Pro, monthly | $45/month | Short projects. The jump from annual is large |
| Team | $40/user/month annual, or $50 monthly | 2–20 people, shared libraries, brand controls |
| Enterprise | Custom | SSO and onboarding |
Every seat includes unlimited AI content generation, 300+ Smart Slide layouts, and PowerPoint import and export. There is a 14-day trial of Pro or Team, and a free year for students with a valid .edu email. There is no ongoing free plan.
Choose Beautiful.ai if you present every week and you are tired of fixing layouts. The annual Pro price ($14.50) is reasonable. The monthly price ($45) is a bad default. Do not choose it for a one-off deck you could draft in Gamma’s free credits.
Plus AI
Plus AI is an add-on for Google Slides and PowerPoint. The output is a native, editable deck in the tool your company already uses. That single fact beats a prettier web canvas for a lot of jobs.
| Plan | Annual per user | Monthly | AI credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $10 | $15 | 1,500 |
| Pro | $20 | $25 | 3,000. Document uploads, long prompts, AI images |
| Team | $30 | $40 | 6,000. Custom branding |
| Max | $200 | $240 | Unlimited credits, priority email |
Every paid plan starts with a 7-day trial and 1,000 credits. New customers only. Plus says a task often uses 40–170 credits. On Basic, 1,500 credits is roughly 9 to 37 generations a month, depending on complexity. Max is only rational if you generate decks all day.
Choose Plus AI when someone will open the file in Slides or PowerPoint and keep editing it. Do not choose it if you wanted a free plan after the trial. There isn’t one.
Microsoft Copilot can also draft PowerPoint slides inside Microsoft 365. If you already pay for Microsoft 365 Premium ($19.99/month), try that before you add Plus AI. The subscription math is in which AI subscription is worth paying for.
Canva
Canva is a design suite. Presentations are one format next to posts, docs, and video. Free includes a very large template library (Canva cites 1.6 million templates) and limited AI. Pro is $18/month or $180/year for one person, with more AI (10× the free allowance), background remover, and 100 GB. Business is $25/person/month or $250/person/year.
Choose Canva when the same person makes the deck, the social cutdowns, and the one-pager. Do not choose Canva only for AI slides if you will never use the rest of the editor. Gamma or Plus AI is a tighter subscription.
Magic Studio features change under fair-use limits. Confirm the current AI allowance inside the product rather than treating “10× Free” as a fixed number of slides.
Pitch and Napkin, for the edges
Pitch Free is genuinely useful: up to 5 members, unlimited presentations, and 100 one-time AI credits. Plus is $10/seat/month on yearly billing with 500 AI credits per seat per month and PPTX export. Team is $15 and Business is $20, still on yearly billing. Pitch charges every workspace member except commenters. Use Pitch when the presentation is a shared room, not a file you email once.
Napkin AI turns text into diagrams. Free is 500 credits a week. Plus is $9/person/month for 10,000 credits and unlimited PowerPoint and SVG export. Yearly billing saves 25%. Use it beside a slide tool, not instead of one, unless the whole deliverable is a visual.

How to make a deck that does not look generated
- Write the argument in six lines before you open the tool. The model will not find your point.
- Generate once. Then delete half the slides. AI decks are long because length is cheap.
- Replace every invented statistic. If you need research, use a cited assistant and the method in ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Claude, or a search-visibility tool from the SEO guide if the deck is about your own rankings.
- Put real screenshots and your logo in yourself. Do not ask the model to imitate a product UI and then present it as the product.
- If the file must survive someone else’s template, rebuild the keeper slides in Plus AI or export to PowerPoint and fix the master.
Writers who are really producing a document, not a deck, will waste a presentation subscription. Start with the writing-assistant guide.
FAQ
What is the best free AI presentation maker?
Gamma’s free credit balance and Canva Free are the two ongoing free options. Pitch Free is the one that includes a team of up to five. Beautiful.ai and Plus AI are trials, not free plans. Gamma’s free credits do not refresh monthly, so “free” means a finite pile unless you earn more.
Gamma vs Beautiful.ai: which should I pay for?
Pay for Gamma Plus ($9/seat) if you want speed and a web-native deck. Pay for Beautiful.ai Pro annual ($14.50) if you present constantly and want the layout engine. Do not pay Beautiful.ai’s $45 monthly rate unless the project is shorter than a few months.
Can Plus AI edit an existing PowerPoint?
Yes. Plus AI is built to generate and remix slides inside PowerPoint and Google Slides, including single-slide inserts. Pro is the tier that adds document-to-deck uploads.
