How to Build an App Without Coding: Lovable vs Bolt vs Replit
By Andrew · October 18, 2026
If you do not write code and you want a hosted web app from a conversation, start with Lovable. If you want to watch and edit the project in the browser with a larger free token pool, start with Bolt.new. If you want a cloud IDE, a database, and a publish button in one place, start with Replit Starter. None of the three removes the need to read what the agent changed before you put real users or payments on it.
Prices below were last verified October 16, 2026. Replit’s pricing page did not load during that check, so this article does not invent a Core or Pro dollar price.
Which builder matches the app in your head?
| The app is | Use | You will pay when |
|---|---|---|
| A landing page, internal tool, or MVP you describe in chat | Lovable | Free daily credits run out. Pro starts at $25/month for 100 credits |
| A full-stack web app you want hosted, with tokens that roll over | Bolt.new | You need more than 1 million tokens a month or you want the Bolt badge gone. Pro from $25/month |
| Something you will keep editing in a real environment, with collaborators | Replit | Starter is free. Core and Pro exist; confirm the price on Replit’s site |
| A React or Next.js interface, not the whole product | v0 by Vercel | Plus is $30/user/month |
| A codebase a developer will own for years | Cursor or Claude Code | You have left “without coding.” See Cursor vs Claude Code vs Codex |
Figure (build-path diagram, not a product screenshot). Alt: Prompt, then three tools. Lovable chats and hosts. Bolt.new chats, shows the code, and hosts on Bolt Cloud. Replit’s Agent builds inside a cloud IDE and publishes. A side path, v0, stops at the interface. An exit path leads to Cursor or Claude Code when a developer takes over.
More builders and editors are in the coding tools directory.
Lovable
Lovable is an AI software engineer in the browser. You describe a website or web app. It builds and hosts through Lovable Cloud, and AI features inside the app draw from the same credit idea. Pricing is by credits, not by seats. Every plan allows unlimited workspace members who share the pool.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual equivalent | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 5 build credits per day, capped at 30 per month, plus 20 Cloud credits |
| Pro | From $25 | $250/year ($21/month) for the 100-credit tier | 100, plus the daily credits on the entry tier |
| Pro, larger | $50 or $100, up to $2,250 | Annual billing is available | 200, 400, scaling to 10,000 credits |
| Business | From $50 | $500/year ($42/month) for 100 credits | 100 at the entry tier, with team and security controls |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Volume pricing |
Lovable’s own examples: a simple style change is about 0.50 credits, and a landing page with images is about 1.70. The free plan’s 5 daily credits (30 per month) can cover a series of small edits and will not carry a complex app through a week of iteration. Top-up credits on Pro and Business expire 12 months after purchase. Monthly credits expire as well; do not buy a huge tier “to be safe” in week one.
Choose Lovable when the builder is a founder, designer, or operator, and the win is a shareable URL. Leave Lovable when you need a native mobile app, or when a developer wants full control of the repo in their own editor.
Bolt.new
Bolt.new, from StackBlitz, generates and runs the app in the browser. Bolt Cloud supplies hosting, a database, and custom domains on paid plans.
| Plan | Price | Allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 million tokens per month, 300,000 per day. Public and private projects. Bolt branding. 10 MB uploads |
| Pro | From $25/month | From 10 million tokens per month, no daily cap. Branding removed, custom domains, SEO settings, token rollover for one extra month while subscribed |
| Teams | $30/member/month | Pro features plus a shared workspace and centralized billing |
Yearly billing saves up to 28% versus the monthly price Bolt showed. Higher token tiers exist above the $25 Pro floor.
Choose Bolt when you want a bigger free month than Lovable’s 30 build credits, and you are willing to look at the generated project. The daily cap of 300,000 tokens is the free-plan surprise: a long afternoon can stop even if the monthly million is unused. Leave Bolt when the product needs mobile apps or a developer’s local toolchain.
Replit
Replit Agent builds from a prompt inside a cloud development environment, with databases, connectors, and publishing. You can drop into the code. That makes it the closest of the three to a normal programming environment, which is a virtue for students and a distraction if you wanted to avoid code entirely.
| Plan | Price | What the docs confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, monthly cloud credits, Lite build, one published app with a badge. The free published app comes down after 30 days |
| Core | Not confirmed | Full build, connectors, Plan Mode, AI integrations, no badge, 5 collaborators. Overage is invoiced after a threshold that starts at $50 |
| Pro | Not confirmed | Tiered credits that roll over up to two months, up to 15 builders, no per-seat fees, 10 parallel tasks |
Because the dollar price was not confirmed, compare Core only on Replit’s own pricing page or the Replit directory entry. Do not budget from a number in a review that guessed.
Choose Replit when the app needs a real environment, several collaborators, or connectors such as payments, and someone will look at the code monthly. Leave Replit if a blocked pricing page plus usage overage makes the bill unpredictable and Lovable’s credit table is easier to forecast.
v0 is not the same kind of tool
v0 generates interfaces, especially React and Next.js, and deploys on Vercel’s stack. Free is $5 of one-time credits for new users and 7 messages a day. Plus is $30/user/month with $30 of monthly credits plus $2 of daily credits when you log in. Business is $100/user/month and turns training opt-out on by default. Use v0 to design the front end of an app a developer will finish. Use Lovable, Bolt, or Replit when you want the whole small product from one prompt.
What “without coding” still requires
These builders write code. You are skipping the typing, not the responsibility.
- Write the smallest version: one user type, one main screen, one saved record.
- Refuse vague prompts (“make it like Uber”). Name the fields and the button.
- Click every path before you show it to anyone. Generated apps often look finished and fail on the second click.
- Do not paste production secrets into the chat.
- Put a human who can read a stack trace on call before you charge money. Usage-based credits and overage (Replit’s threshold starts at $50) are how a weekend project becomes a surprise invoice.
If the workflow is “connect my existing tools” rather than “build an app,” you want automation, not a builder. That choice is Zapier vs Make vs n8n.

| Price we can print | Strong | Strong | Not confirmed above free | Strong |
| Team without per-seat fees | Strong (unlimited members, shared credits) | Teams is $30/member | Pro docs say no per-seat fees, up to 15 builders | Plus and Business are per user |
| Hand-off to a developer IDE | Partial | Partial | Stronger | Strong for front-end code |
| Native mobile app | Not the product | Not the product | Not the default pitch | No |
A weekend plan
- Describe the app in ten lines: who it is for, what they type, what gets saved, what they see next.
- Build that in Lovable Free and in Bolt Free. Stop when each tool asks for a paid action.
- Keep the one that got to a working save button in fewer credits or tokens.
- Upgrade that tool’s monthly plan only. For Lovable and Bolt, $25 is the confirmed starting paid tier.
- If you are still fighting the tool on day three, stop and hire a developer using Cursor or Claude Code instead of buying a larger credit pack.
FAQ
Can I build an app with no coding experience?
Yes, a small web app. Lovable and Bolt are explicitly sold for that. You still need to test it and to get help before it handles payments, personal data, or anything you cannot afford to break.
Lovable vs Bolt: which is cheaper?
Both paid plans start at $25/month. The free plans are hard to compare directly because Lovable meters build credits (30 per month on Free) and Bolt meters tokens (1 million per month, 300,000 per day). Try the same brief in both free tiers. That test is more honest than converting credits into tokens.
How much does Replit Core cost?
We could not confirm it. Replit’s pricing page did not load in the October 16, 2026 check behind bot verification. Use the price on replit.com/pricing.
